Most people think of AutoCad merely as an architectural tool, but I also utilize it as a design tool! (I even designed part of my wedding thank you cards in AutoCad and then took it into illustrator to enhance the design and add more elements). So here is a quick glimpse at what our wedding cake will look like:

Keep in mind, the elevation view does not show the tiers on angle, because it could be confusion to the eye. Also, the cake will have rounded corners, I just forgot that detail when I rendered it. :)

This is a shameless plug now, but if you have a wedding in the future, my sister Rebecca makes fantastic cakes! She will be making our cake and I can't wait to this design come to life. Also, I may be offering design consultations in conjunction with her beautiful cakes in the future.

Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-31413326812742376422008-12-17T21:29:00.000-08:002008-12-17T21:39:28.686-08:00"You too"I was on the phone with one of my vendors this morning and she happened to asked me if I was going to be around for Christmas. I informed her that I was going to Indiana for Christmas. A few minutes later when we were ending our conversation, she said, "Have a good time in Indiana" and my immediate response was "you too". The words just came out of my mouth without even thinking and before I knew what I was saying I was already half way through it. I could hear the confusion in her voice and hung up the phone. It was hilarious! It was as if I was re-living Brian Regan's experience.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aAZXQItJs0MLizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-86315368558470224622008-12-09T18:31:00.000-08:002008-12-09T18:41:47.749-08:00Blankets for ChristmasIt is that time of year again when it is important that we reach out to those in need and lend a helping hand. My mother and I are continuing our tradition of providing fleece blankets to elementary children in need. As you may or may not know, my mom teaches character education to inner-city elementary kids in the Salt Lake area. Last year during one of her lessons on traditions she showed the students a picture of a little girl on Santa's lap and asked them what they thought she was asking him for. A little boy in kindergarten responded immediately by saying that she was asking for a blanket. My mom responded by asking why, and the little boy said, "Because her body shakes and wakes her up at night because she is cold." She took that not as the imagination of a child, but as a voice of experience. The children she teaches do not often have the necessities of life and we would like to help them be warm this Christmas season. Our goal this year is to provide fleece blankets for at least 125 children in need of warmth and love. Our endeavor last year was absolutely wonderful as we saw the joy on the faces of the children when they came back into their classrooms after recess to find a gift from Santa. If you are able to donate even a dollar to this cause, we would greatly appreciate your donation in helping these children stay warm and letting them know that they are loved.

Please pass the word to anyone you think may be interested. We will be delivering these blankets anonymously before the holiday break. If you would like to donate, please respond to blanketsforchristmas@gmail.com. We know that everyone is enduring hard times with the low economy but would greatly appreciate your support and efforts. More importantly, the children will appreciate your generosity and will learn a lesson of charity that will stay with them throughout their lives. Thank you for your time and support in our endeavor.Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com142tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-27058091596870062562008-12-08T20:42:00.000-08:002008-12-08T21:11:17.996-08:00Aggies vs. Cougars...and an old man

John and I had the opportunity of attending the USU vs BYU mens basketball game this past weekend. However, since John obtained the tickets through his school, we were seated in the BYU student section. If you don't know, I'm a huge USU basketball fan and will be until the day I die...it's basically the only sports team I even care about. Well, seeing as I was in cougarville, I decided to make it well known that I was cheering for the Aggies! I must admit, I get quite a kick out of cheering for the opposite team as everyone around me. Even before the game began I was cheering for my team. The looks I got from everyone were absolutely priceless! Some of the other students around us asked John how we met since it was clear that we were cheering for different teams...and some even asked how we make it work, lol! Well, about ten minutes into the game, I noticed that the old man seated in the row across the isle from me seemed quite perturbed that I had the audacity to be sitting in the BYU section and cheering for the opposing team! Well, he decided to make sure that I knew how he felt. He then began to stare me down! At first I just thought he was glaring at me for a moment...but then the moment lasted for a good minute while there was a time-out. Even after I looked him straight in the eye he continued to stare me down! I turned to John, not knowing how to handle this. John told me to just ignore him, but I decided to have some fun with it instead. So I cheered even louder to make it known that I was loyal to my team. Needless to say, I enjoyed the game immensely. I should have thought more quickly and taken a picture of the guy while he was staring me down, but I did get a picture of him later on while he was paying attention to the game, so here you go. And just an FYI, the look in eyes was incredibly scary...

As a side note for all you Cougars out there, yes I know that BYU defeated USU in this game, but you have to admit that it was a close game and therefore a fun and interesting game. USU definitely needs to work on its 3-pointers and rebounds. But at least we have loyal fans that have fun at the games! (And yes, I lost my bet with John and had to buy him dinner, oh well.)

Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-32120337996663100222008-10-28T17:12:00.000-07:002008-10-28T17:23:43.793-07:00Oh the technicalities!I received an interesting phone call today informing me that I won a drawing! I never win ANYTHING!! So you can imagine that I was quite excited to hear that of all the names entered in the drawing, mine was actually pulled out! The lady told me she just had to verify the my information was correct. Our conversation went something like this:

Prize Drawing Lady: It says here that your last name is Rich, is that correct?
Me: Yes.
Prize Drawing Lady: It also says that you are over 25, is this also correct?
Me: (regretfully) No, I'm 23.
Prize Drawing Lady: Well are you married or engaged?
Me: Yes, I am engaged.
Prize Drawing Lady: Is your fiance over 25?
Me: (regretfully) No, he's 24.
Prize Drawing Lady: Well, I'm sorry but you have to be at least 25 in order to be eligible to win.
Me: Just out of curiosity sake, what was the prize I could have won?
Prize Drawing Lady: You had a choice of either a car or a shopping gift card.

Dang it! Dang it! Dang it! Why can I not just have lied and said that I or John was 25?! Darn conscience!Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-8612580096043066332008-10-14T18:26:00.001-07:002008-10-14T18:33:57.511-07:00The ImpossibleI am in the midst of the impossible task of finding cute and attractive bridesmaid dresses. I've been a bridesmaid several times now and have only ever liked one of the dresses I was asked to wear. I prefer not to submit my bridesmaids to cruel and unusual punishment by wearing an ugly dress. Is it that hard to find cute dresses at an affordable price? After months of searching, I've come to the conclusion that it is almost impossible to find cute dresses that are in fact affordable. I've stumbled across several dresses that I absolutely LOVE, however they are four times my budget! I know have six months to find what currently seems to be impossible.Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com4tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-18996680324368298212007-10-29T19:56:00.000-07:002007-10-29T19:58:11.643-07:00
Which Pirates of the Caribbean main character are you?

Your Quiz Result:

Elizabeth Swann

You are rash and a bit ditzy. I have probably read it about seven times and often watch one of the many Pride and Prejudice videos. The quiz said, "You are Elizabeth Bennet of Pride & Prejudice! You are intelligent, witty, and tremendously attractive. You have a good head on your shoulders, and oftentimes find yourself the lone beacon of reason in a sea of silliness. You take great pleasure in many things. You are proficient in nearly all of them, though you will never own it. Lest you seem too perfect, you have a tendency toward prejudgement that serves you very ill indeed." The "sea of silliness" is so true when I hang out with the boys!

Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8166728221171825047.post-45240074045537868572007-06-03T20:10:00.000-07:002007-06-03T20:19:38.366-07:00Hilarious!Ok, so I am a huge fan of NBC's "The Office" and these are some of the most hilarious clips that I absolutely love! I am sure your time here will be well spent and full of many belly-wrenching laughs. First of all, if you know me at all, you understand what I mean by "mazel tov", and if you do not understand it, please let me enlighten you. My sophomore year at Utah State University (aka the best university ever, aka the school the kicks BYU's trash in basketball, go Aggie's!) I lived with five wonderful girls, one of which began the school year by being in a production of "Fiddler On The Roof". She would often practice songs in the apartment and we all found ourselves singing along. Well, to make this short story even longer, one of those songs went a little bit like this, "A blessing on your head, Mazel tov Mazel tov..." So, the clever girls that we were, we began to say "mavel tov instead of congratulations (as this is the meaning of the Yiddish word). And I must say that we got some awesome reactions and contorted expressions when people heard what we said, as they obviously had no idea what we were saying, but we quite enjoyed it. We actually even named our fish mazel tov, but called him Mazie for short. Since this time I have grown quite fond of the word and use it every chance I get.
You should try it sometime! It is quite exhilarating!Lizhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05185961536621932564noreply@blogger.com5
